Managed Services Engineer (Network Infrastructure)
Job Summary:
This is a great fit for someone solid on networking fundamentals, comfortable owning tickets and projects end-to-end, and looking to grow into broader cloud and systems responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary point of technical contact for managed services clients, providing Tier 2/3 support across network, systems, and infrastructure issues
- Design, configure, deploy, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure across client environments
- Monitor network health and performance using RMM and monitoring tools; proactively identify and resolve issues before they impact clients
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated tickets related to LAN/WAN connectivity, VPNs, firewalls, and network security
- Support and maintain cloud and hybrid environments (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, virtualization platforms) as needed
- Participate in client onboarding, network assessments, and infrastructure upgrade projects
- Document network configurations, standard operating procedures, and client environments accurately and consistently
- Collaborate with the broader managed services team on escalations, projects, and process improvements
- Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication and responsive, professional service
Prerequisite:
- 2-5 years of experience in a network engineering, network administration, or managed services role
- Valid CCNA certification (required)
- Strong hands-on experience with routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls, and VPN configuration
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and general network troubleshooting
- Experience working within an MSP or client-facing IT support environment
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple client environments and tickets simultaneously
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites as needed (hybrid role)
Special skills
- Experience with cloud and systems administration (Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V)
- Additional certifications such as CompTIA Network+/Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Fortinet NSE, or similar
- Familiarity with RMM/PSA tools (e.g., ConnectWise, Datto, N-able, Kaseya)
- Experience with SD-WAN, network security monitoring, or endpoint management platforms
- Prior experience in a client-facing consulting or managed services capacity
